I was born in Kenya in 2006, spent five years in Singapore as a child, and grew up in Nairobi from 2015, finishing the IB at the International School of Kenya. Most of my early hands-on experience came from there: I led a 22-member student NGO making products out of recycled plastic, and set up four production workshops that created paid work for local residents.

I’m now at the University of Toronto studying civil engineering with a Professional Experience Year, plus minors in engineering business and environmental engineering. Those overlap on the questions I find most interesting: how you build something that lasts, how it gets paid for, and what it costs environmentally.

Last summer I worked at Testo in Lenzkirch, Germany, leading four interns through an audit of thirty hazardous material and gas work areas and costing out the compliance options. Alongside term I now work remotely at Evardi, building power-grid network models across three utility systems and writing optimization and machine-learning code in Python over fifty thousand system measurements. That’s the direction I want to keep going: environmental engineering, energy systems and consulting.
